Course Overview
Entry Level 3 Gateway Health and Social Care provides students with a supportive and practical introduction to the health and social care sector at NPTC Group of Colleges. The course focuses on developing communication, employability, literacy and numeracy skills while helping students build confidence, independence and positive behaviours for learning and work. Students will explore real-life health and social care contexts through practical activities and personal development, preparing them for progression or future employment opportunities.
No previous knowledge or qualifications are required. Students must be able to demonstrate the ability to work at least at Entry Level 3 and show a willingness to engage with practical activities, teamwork and personal development.
On completion of the course, students may progress to higher level courses within health and social care at NPTC Group of Colleges. Other progression routes may include supported internships, voluntary work, or the development of transferable skills to support future employment and independent living. Where appropriate and achievable, students may work towards a BTEC qualification.
Assessment is based on coursework, practical activities and individual target-based outcomes. Student progress and achievement are monitored and recorded using RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement). Where students are able to meet the required standards, they may complete a BTEC qualification; otherwise, the programme will be delivered as non-accredited learning to meet individual needs.
