Course Overview
This part-time course introduces you to the essential skills and techniques used in cake decorating. It is designed to help you build a strong practical foundation, whether you want to progress to a higher-level qualification, work in the bakery industry, or start your own cake decorating business. The course focuses on hands-on learning and developing creative confidence through practical sessions.

• Adults with an interest in cake decorating and sugarcraft
• Learners looking to develop basic decorating skills
• Those aiming to progress to a Level 2 course or explore employment or self-employment in baking
What you will learn
• How to work with royal icing, sugar paste, marzipan and other modelling pastes
• Techniques for basic piping, sugar paste flowers and decorative finishes
• How to design and produce a decorated gateau and simple cake designs
On successful completion of the course, you will have developed a wide range of basic cake decorating skills to support progression to further study or entry-level opportunities in the bakery industry.
