Course Overview
The Level 1 Diploma in Practical Horticultural Skills is a practical course delivered by NPTC Group of Colleges for students who want to develop essential horticulture skills. Students will gain hands-on experience in plant care, garden maintenance and the safe use of tools and machinery, helping to improve career opportunities or enhance personal gardening knowledge.
Students are expected to have some previous experience within horticulture. All students will be invited to attend an interview prior to enrolment.
Students can progress into employment across a range of horticulture and landscaping pathways. These may include garden design, garden maintenance, amenity horticulture and roles within the retail sector. The course is also suitable for students who wish to further develop their own gardening skills.

Assessment is carried out through observation of practical work and questioning to test underpinning knowledge. Students will also complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their achievements throughout the course.
Students will be required to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) as advised by their tutors.
