Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning & Development: Practice and Theory (Full-Time)
Course Overview
The Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning & Development: Practice and Theory course is a full-time programme designed for students who wish to work in regulated childcare settings. Delivered by NPTC Group of Colleges, the course supports students in developing the practical skills, professional behaviours, and underpinning knowledge required to work effectively with children and young people in further education and early years environments.
Students are required to have a minimum of three GCSEs at grade C or above, including either Maths or English Language.
On successful completion of the course, students may progress directly into employment within the childcare sector or continue their studies at a higher level. Career opportunities may include roles such as nursery assistant, crèche assistant, Cylch Meithrin assistant, out of school childcare worker, or playgroup assistant. Students may also choose to progress to Level 3 programmes in Health and Social Care or Childcare.
Students are assessed through a combination of short answer questions, examinations, and coursework. Assessment methods are designed to reflect both theoretical understanding and practical application in real childcare settings.
Additional course-related costs may apply, including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, currently £55.00, and a uniform for work placement, typically costing between £20 and £30. All costs are subject to change.
