Level 2 Foundation in Bricklaying & Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Full-Time)
Course Overview
The Level 2 Foundation in Bricklaying and Construction Operations and Civil Engineering Operations is a full-time course at NPTC Group of Colleges designed for students who are interested in developing practical skills and knowledge for a career in the construction industry. Students will learn bricklaying techniques, construction operations and civil engineering skills, alongside interpreting technical drawings, measuring accurately and working safely on site, preparing them for employment or further study.
Students will normally have achieved GCSEs in Mathematics and English at Grade D/Grade 3 or above, or be working towards Level 2 Essential Skills in these subjects. The course is suitable for students aged 16 and over who are interested in working in the construction and built environment sector.
Students who successfully complete this course can progress to further qualifications in bricklaying or construction at a higher level, or move into an apprenticeship in the construction industry. Career opportunities may include bricklayer, construction operative, civil engineering operative, site labourer or groundwork specialist.
Introduction to the Construction and Built Environment, Employability Skills in Construction, Health and Safety in Construction, Bricklaying Skills and Techniques, Construction Operations and Civil Engineering Fundamentals, Planning, Performing and Evaluating Practical Tasks.
Students will be assessed through a combination of an externally set and marked multiple-choice test, an internally assessed practical project covering brickwork and civils, and a guided discussion. Assessment methods are designed to test both practical skills and underpinning knowledge.
Students will need to purchase personal protective equipment including safety boots, safety glasses and a face mask, along with basic stationery such as a calculator, scale rule, pens and folders. Additional costs may include materials and course-related
