Course Overview

The Level 2 Foundation in Bricklaying & Construction Operations and Civil Engineering Operations is a full-time two-trade course designed for students who are interested in working in the construction industry as a bricklayer or as a construction and civil engineering operator.

A bricklayer/construction civil engineering operator works on diverse projects from building homes, restoring historical buildings, to working on large commercial projects. As a bricklayer/construction civil engineering operator, you will learn and develop skills such as the ability to interpret architectural drawings and technical plans and accurately measure and calculate dimensions. This also involves the traditional skills of working with brick and stone to build masonry walls, setting out/laying drainage, kerbstones and paving. When undertaking and completing these tasks, it produces a sense of accomplishment in your work.
