The VTCT NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students aged 19 and over who have aspirations to work as a beauty therapist. This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies (HAT) department.
It covers aspects of anatomy and physiology, skin, hair, hair growth, diseases and disorders, and salon health & safety. In addition, it includes day, evening and corrective makeup applications, eyebrow shaping, eyelash and brow tinting, warm waxing, manicures, pedicures, facial treatments and employability skills.
Interview prior to enrolment. Learners must be aged 19 or over.
This qualification will enable you to work as fully insured professionals, either in a salon or as freelance practitioners. You continue your studies to NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy and photographic, bridal and theatrical techniques of make-up application.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will have homework to complete, which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising skills.
Learners will be required to purchase a kit and uniform.
