The Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy (ages 19+) – VTCT NVQ (Full-Time) at NPTC Group of Colleges is a full-time Further Education course designed for adult students aged 19 and over who wish to begin a career in the beauty industry. The course provides students with essential practical skills, professional knowledge and industry experience required to work safely, confidently and effectively as a beauty therapist.
Students must attend an interview prior to enrolment. Learners must be aged 19 or over.
This qualification enables students to work as fully insured beauty therapists, either within a salon environment or as freelance practitioners. Students may also progress to Level 3 Beauty Therapy and develop specialist skills including photographic, bridal and theatrical make-up techniques.
This qualification will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as a beauty therapist.
Throughout this qualification you will ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, promote additional services or products to clients, study anatomy and physiology, develop and maintain your effectiveness at work, provide facial skincare treatment, enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes, eyelash and brow tinting, carry out waxing services, provide pedicure, manicure services as well as day, evening and corrective makeup applications.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end-of-unit tests. Students are required to bring clients into commercial classes for assessment purposes. In addition, students will complete homework tasks, including compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising practical skills.
Students are required to purchase a professional kit and uniform.
