Newtown College Performing Arts Students Shine in the “The Addams Family” Production

Newtown College’s performing arts students recently captivated audiences with their outstanding rendition of “The Addams Family”. The performances held at Hafren Theatre, were met with enthusiastic applause and commendation from the audience.

The hot weather on both evenings didn’t deter well-attended shows, with theatregoers thrilled to witness the students’ talent and dedication. The performers demonstrated a remarkable connection on stage, bringing the quirky and beloved characters of “The Addams Family” to life with authenticity and flair.

Each cast member delivered a strong performance, with powerful vocals from Wednesday played by Megan Gant, a lovely spoken voice for Grandma played by Ethan Andrews-Hardiman, a fabulously executed Gomez and Morticia, Blu Robinson and Tabitha Kendall. There were also great performances by Pugsley, Millie Davies and Lurch, Logan Titcombe, and hilarious humour from Uncle Fester and Sage Maddock Hinks. Not to mention the rest of the cast who all showcased great skills in choreographed dance routines, expressive vocal storytelling and entertainingly timed humour. 

“We are incredibly proud of our students,” said Ruth Calvert Performing Arts lecturer and show director and co-choreographer. “Their hard work and passion for the performing arts were evident in every scene. The positive feedback from the audience is a testament to their talent and dedication.”

Elizabeth Hebden, Performing Arts Lecturer and show co-choreographer added: “The students truly committed to their roles and embraced their characters. It has been a joy to see them develop and witness their success in front of the audience.”

One audience member shared their thoughts saying “The show was absolutely fantastic! The students’ performances were top-notch, and the humour had everyone laughing out loud. It was thoroughly enjoyable, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
