Congratulations to Newtown College Health and Social Care student, Keeleigh Tonks, on being awarded the prestigious Montgomeryshire Society Prize for Further Education 2026.

The Montgomeryshire Society is a London-based charitable organisation whose members share a strong interest in Montgomeryshire, Wales. The Society has a long-standing tradition of supporting students at the College by offering the opportunity to be recognised through its Further Education prize.

Keeleigh, a second-year Health and Social Care student, has distinguished herself through exceptional resilience, determination, and maturity in the face of significant personal challenges. Throughout her studies, she has successfully balanced her academic commitments alongside two part-time jobs.

Despite these demands, Keeleigh has maintained excellent attendance (97%) and perfect punctuality (100%), while achieving strong academic results, consistently attaining A–B grades. She remains focused on her ambition of becoming a paramedic and continues to work diligently towards this goal.

Keeleigh’s dedication has not gone unnoticed by her lecturers. Health and Social Care lecturer Russell Coleman commented:
“Keeleigh’s commitment, perseverance, and positive attitude make her highly deserving of recognition for this award.”

The award was presented by Newtown College Manager, Steve Cass, who expressed his gratitude to the Montgomeryshire Society for their continued support and commitment to recognising and inspiring students along their educational journey.
