This qualification will support roles such as a vehicle technician, body technician or paint technician.

At Pathways Training we deliver Apprenticeships in Motor Vehicle Body Repair and Paint that will give learners a nationally recognised qualification. Learners will develop skills in the workplace and attend college one day a week for up to 2 years.

WE OFFER:

Level 2 (Body)

  • Removing and fitting nonwelded, non-structural body panels
  • Removing and replacing nonstructural body panels
  • Repairing non-structural body panels
  • MIG and spot welding

Level 2 (Paint)

  • Preparing metal and prepainted surfaces
  • Preparing and applying fillers and foundation materials to vehicles
  • Repairing minor paint defects

Level 3 (Body)

  • Removing, replacing and repairing body panels
  • Identifying and rectifying body misalignment (JIG work)
  • MIG welding techniques
  • Resistance spot welding operations
  • Understanding vehicle construction and materials

Level 3 (Paint)

  • Preparing metal and prepainted surfaces
  • Establishing paint defects
  • Applying topcoats (water-based) and completing refinishing
  • Colour matching – metallics and pearls
  • Blending/local repairs

Apprenticeships include:

  • IMI Level 2 & 3 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Body Repair
  • IMI Level 2 & 3 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Paint Repair
  • ESW Application of Number Skills
  • ESW Communication Skills
  • ESW Digital Literacy Skills
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities

Entry requirements

Learners must be:

  • Living/working in Wales (must meet eligibility criteria)
  • Employed for at least 16 hours each week throughout the apprenticeship

Employer Incentive: Your employer may be able to claim up to £3,500 towards the cost of your training (Subject to eligibility criteria).
